Horror Writing How To with Kate Jonez
(Facebook Event:
https://www.facebook.com/events/728567694158342/)
Please join us on Saturday morning, October 20, at 10 am, for our monthly San Gabriel Valley Women Writers meeting. Just in time for Halloween, horror master Kate Jonez introduces us to the How To of Horror Writing!
Kate will cover a few of the topics covered in her forthcoming online course, Horror Writing How To. We’ll discuss what horror is and how it differs, or doesn’t, from other genres. We’ll also cover mood, point of view, and how to effectively exploit fear—your own and other’s. We're very excited to have Kate back again for this spooky and informative talk! OoooooOOOOOooo!
Dark fantasy and horror author Kate Jonez has twice been nominated for the Bram Stoker Award and once for the Shirley Jackson award. Her collection Lady Bits is forthcoming from Journalstone and her short fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in The Best Horror of the Year Vol. 8, Black Static, Gamut, and Haunted Nights, edited by Ellen Datlow and Lisa Morton. She is also the chief editor at the Bram Stoker Award-winning small press Omnium Gatherum, which is dedicated to publishing unique dark fantasy, weird fiction, and horror.
SGVWW meets monthly, usually on the third Saturdays, to network and learn about a different topic related to writing and publishing. Please come early so you can get breakfast before starting time, and RSVP here so we can save you a seat.
See you on October 20!
Remember, women-identified writers need to join the San Gabriel Valley Women Writers Facebook group first, before they can see any of the Facebook events. Please join us!
