The Importance of a Writer's Website with Renee Camus
In this busy Internet age, it’s imperative that all businesses—including writers and editors—have an online presence. That means a functioning website (and domain) of your own.
Kick off 2019 with San Gabriel Valley Women Writers' first monthly meeting for the year: 10 a.m. January 26, at the Flintridge Bookstore and Coffee House. (NOTE: this meeting is on the fourth Saturday in January so as not to conflict with the Women's March on January 19.)
In this meeting, SGVWW founder and director Renée Camus will discuss the importance of having your own writer’s website, and the content and various pages that site should include. We'll consider design approaches to building a site, and introduce the basics and costs of domain purchasing and hosting.
This meeting will be a good introduction to a special hands-on workshop the following week, on February 2: Build Your Writer’s Website Using WordPress. (See the separate event page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/309987239639470/.)
SGVWW meets monthly, usually on the third Saturdays, to network and learn about a different topic related to writing and publishing. Please come early so you can get breakfast before starting time, and RSVP here so we can save you a seat.
See you January 26!
San Gabriel Valley Women Writers (SGVWW) is a supportive and knowledgable community of women-identified and gender non-binary writers focused on helping each other further our writing goals. We meet in-person monthly, usually on the third Saturdays, to network and learn about a different topic related to writing and publishing. Our monthly talks are hosted by a variety of professionals and cover everything from tax laws to building a writer's website, from finding an agent and pitching publications to creating compelling characters and writing strong dialogue. Writers of all types are welcome: journalists, fiction and non-fiction authors, novelists, poets, bloggers, professional and amateur, etc. We also meet online in our Facebook group.
