Flintridge Bookstore hosts special events for SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY, including author meet and greets and book signings, storytimes, poetry & fiction readings, guest artists, and more. Small Business Saturday is a nationwide celebration started in 2010 to recognize the contributions indie businesses make to the communities they serve. This year Flintridge Bookstore features fourteen authors working in various genres and for readers of all ages. Two featured local artists offer beautiful handmade accessories. Jennifer J. Luke Lieberman, Stan Lee’s Alliances: Orphans – From the imagination of Stan Lee, the architect of the Marvel Universe, comes a brand-new original graphic novel set in the Alliances universe, co-written by Lee with Luke Lieberman (Red Sonja) and Ryan Silbert (The Coldest Case), with fully painted artwork by Bill Sienkiewicz and Szymon Kudranski.
Lieberman graduated from NYU film school and moved to LA to apprentice Stan Lee, who mentored him in the art of storytelling. He left Stan's employ to relaunch the Red Sonja comic book franchise where he serves as licensor and executive editor to this day, as well as the executive producer of the Red Sonja feature film currently in development.

Henry Prize Stories, the New York Times, O Magazine, and many other periodicals. She teaches for the MFA programs at Northwestern University and Regis University.

Loney received her MFA in dramatic writing from New York University. She has worked as a screenwriter, computer teacher, and she even ran away to live with a circus. Today Andrea spends most of her time writing stories that celebrate the humanity of all children.
Sue Ganz-Schmitt, Now I’m a Bird - It isn’t easy to be the only kid in school who’s a bird. Then again, you can fly! Other titles available.
Ganz-Schmitt is an award-winning author, musical theater producer, and philanthropist. She holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts in writing for children and young adults. Sue has performed in RENT on Broadway, run a marathon, and has served as a NASA Social Media correspondent, a volunteer for The Planetary Society, and a space advocate representing the Space Exploration Alliance to Congress.

She entered the world of audio book narration with Penguin/Random House Publishing, earning numerous awards along the way. Mandy is also a studio singer and partner at Dandy Audio which specializes in music production, sound design and narration for audiobooks.

Dannie & Dallas Raines, Chester and the Hot Air Balloon - Meteorologist Dallas and his dog Chester introduce climate and earth science themes.
Dannie Raines has a journalism and communications degree from UCLA. Her husband, Dallas Raines, is Chief Meteorologist of KABC. The couple is passionate about their mission to serve youth by exciting and educating them about the earth sciences and our wacky weather.
Jennifer Salmassian, Shnubble’s Bubbles: This is the story of a young orca who encounters a mysterious creature…a human being.
Salmassian received a BA and teaching credential in History and a MA in Education. Combining her love of education with art and poetry and inspired by her own children, Jennifer started Sally the Cat Publishing (SCP) in 2006, which has published over 20 titles. Jennifer tours schools to share her stories and show children about the importance of reading.
