with Robert Inman, Urban Walker, “An Architectural Guidebook of Los Angeles”

The bookstore is one of the vendors at the La Canada Home Tour marketplace. We will be there with books focused on architecture, gardening, local history, home design, and cooking.

We are also joined (from 12-2 PM) by Robert Inman, who signs the latest edition of “An Architectural Guidebook to Los Angeles. Robert Inman cultivated his lifelong enthusiasm for the built environment of Los Angeles as a student at Occidental College under the tutelage of Dr. Robert W. Winter, his now frequent collaborator. A native son of Los Angeles and a lifelong active hiker, he embraced stair and urban walking as an avocation in 2004. In these pursuits, Inman has come to publish A Guide to the Stairways of Los Angeles (2008) and Finding Los Angeles by Foot: Stairstreet, Bridge, Pathway, and Lane (2013). In nine years of leading urban walks, he has lead more than five thousand participants on two hundred walking events of this nature. In 2011, Inman co-invented and designed the 220-mile, 300-stairway “Inman 300” in Los Angeles, known as “America’s first urban thru-hike.” In 2016, he was awarded the Ray Bradbury Community Walking Champion award from a pedestrian advocacy group, Los Angeles Walks. Inman is married to Barbara May, and they live in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock.

All students, parents and community members are invited to participate in the La Canada Home Tour. It is a Fundraiser Benefitting La Cañada High School 7/8 PTA & 9-12 PTSA and directly funds many valuable programs and supplies for our La Cañada High School students.

Home Tour attendees will enjoy tours of four local homes, all selected and showcased for their architectural interest and inspirational design. Accompanying the Home Tour is an all day marketplace with boutique vendors and dining options and the celebratory After Party with live music, food and drink.

Home Tour Hours: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm & 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm ($45 pre-sale/$50 day of)
Marketplace Hours: 9:30 am – 6:00 pm (included with tour ticket or $10 at entrance)
Home Tour After Party: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm ($35 pre-sale/$40 at door)

Tickets for the home tour will be available at the bookstore (pay by cash or check only).
